Orlando Transportation
Getting to Orlando is quick and easy — particularly when arriving by air. Our primary gateway, Orlando International Airport (MCO), is J.D. Power & Associates’ No. 1 mega airport in the southeastern U.S. for customer satisfaction. It also never stops improving, including recent updates to its ticketing and baggage-handling systems, plus a brand-new, state-of-the-art third terminal, with even more upgrades on the way.

Located less than 20 minutes from International Drive — the heart of our tourism district — Orlando International Airport works with more than 40 scheduled airlines to provide nonstop service from over 150 international and domestic destinations. What’s more, airfares at MCO are among the lowest of the 50 largest airports in the U.S. And thanks to the new Terminal C, this award-winning venue has more airlift than ever.
Also servicing the area, Orlando Sanford International Airport is located 18 miles northeast of Orlando, approximately 45 minutes from our tourism districts. If you prefer rail travel, Amtrak provides service via its station in downtown Orlando. And starting in 2023, Brightline will connect Orlando to south Florida with express-rail service. Our commuter rail service, SunRail, connects key cities along our main corridor.
Once you’ve reached Orlando, you can choose from a robust selection of public transportation, rental-car providers and even ride-share options such as Lyft and Uber, which can pick up and drop off at MCO, theme parks, attractions and everywhere else you’ll want to visit. You can also hop on the fun and affordable I-Ride Trolley, which runs on and around International Drive and costs a maximum of $2 per ride. Several hotels in our tourism district also offer shuttle services to guests, and tours to attractions outside the immediate Orlando area are also available.

If you’re doing the driving, there’s no need to worry about getting lost, as several major highways offer convenient access to area attractions. And now, I-4 Express is making it easier than ever to get around. Part of Orlando’s section of Interstate 4 (I-4), this new option consists of tolled lanes, two in each direction, between Kirkman Road (State Road 435) and State Road 434. By helping to reduce roadway congestion, the new express lanes provide more efficient traveling options for commuters and visitors to Orlando.
